Megan Rose (née McCloskey) is a criminal justice journalist. In 2020, Rose won thePulitzer Prize for national reporting, with fellow journalistsT. Christian Miller andRobert Faturechi, for her reporting of theUnited States Seventh Fleet accidents.
Rose graduated with bachelor’s degrees in journalism and political science from theUniversity of Missouri.
Rose is a journalist atProPublica,[1] where she currently covers criminal justice.[2] She previously covered the military, including investigating spend of theU.S. government inAfghanistan, and the failed actions ofThe Pentagon to find and identify missing service members.[3]
Prior to working at ProPublica, she worked for theAssociated Press, and was national correspondent atStars and Stripes newspaper. In this role she reported from conflict and disaster zones includingIraq, Afghanistan andHaiti.[3]
In 2020, in addition to the Pulitzer Prize in national reporting, she was also awarded theGerald R. Ford Journalism Award. She has also received aWhite House Correspondents’ Association award and theDeborah Howell Award for Writing Excellence, and was a finalist for the Livingston Award twice.[4]
