By-election 2001

A by-election was held in this constituency in 2001 which was necessitated by the death of sitting MP Indrajit Gupta. In the by-election,Prabodh Panda ofCommunist Party of India defeated his nearest rival Manorajnan Dutta ofTrinamool Congress.
