Mederdra (Arabic:المذرذرة) is a small town and commune in south-westMauritania, near the border ofSenegal.
In 2013, it had a population of 7,421.[1]
It lies on the route of a proposed railway line to connect phosphate mines atKaédi with the capital and port ofNouakchott.
Malouma Mint El Meidah, a popular singer and politician, was born in Mederdra in 1960.[2]
Horma Ould Babana, politician, was born in Mederdra on 12 March 1912.[3]
