Mebanazine (trade nameActomol) is amonoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) of thehydrazinechemical class that was previously used as anantidepressant in the 1960s, but has since beenwithdrawn due tohepatotoxicity.[1][2][3]

Mebanazine in animals is claimed to be a more potent MAOI thanpheniprazine with a greater therapeutic index.[4]
