Maxwell Exsted (born March 12, 2007) is an American tennis player.[1][2] He won theboys' doubles champions at the2024 and2025Australian Open.
Exsted has a career-high singles ranking of No. 1,071 achieved on February 9, 2026 and a career-high doubles ranking of No. 344 achieved on January 5, 2026.
FromSavage, Minnesota, he started playing tennis at one year-old and by four years-oldhad won his first junior tennis tournament, in Chicago.[3] He relocated with father Chris and mother Jodi, toMiramar, Florida to train with private coach Courtney Scott as well as his USTA development coach Jon Glover at theUSTA National Campus inOrlando. He has a brother Alex and a sister Isabelle who both played collegiate tennis.[4]
WithDarwin Blanch andJagger Leach, Maxwell was part of the American team which finished third at the2023 Junior Davis Cup.[5]
Maxwell won the final champion of theboys' doubles at the2024 Australian Open alongside compatriotCooper Woestendick.[6][7] The pair also won the Traralgon Junior International doubles competition together in January 2024.[8]
Exsted once again Maxwell won the final champion of theboys' doubles at the2025 Australian Open, this time alongside CzechJan Kumstát.[9][10][11]
Awarded a wildcard alongside compatriotCooper Woestendick to the men's doubles at the2025 US Open, they caused a shock upset win against experienced playersDavid Goffin andAlexandre Muller in the first round.[12] In the second round they were defeated in three sets by the British pairJoe Salisbury andNeal Skupski.[13]
