Mauro Esteban Navas Dellepiani (born 20 October 1974) is an Argentine retiredfootballer who played as aright back, and current youth coach atBoca Juniors.
His professional career was spent, other than in his country, where he played in various clubs and divisions, in Italy andSpain. In the latter nation, he played four years withEspanyol inLa Liga.
Navas was born inBuenos Aires. After appearing prominently in his country forClub Atlético Banfield andRacing Club de Avellaneda, he signed withItalian clubUdinese Calcio.
During the next four seasons he played in Spain withRCD Espanyol, starting inhis first year – which ended with theconquest of theCopa del Rey – and appearing regularly for theBarcelona-based side in the following campaigns. After a soleseason in the same country with lowlyCD Leganés, he returned to his homeland in 2004, continuing to play mainly in the lower leagues (he had a brief spell in thePrimera División, with modestClub Almagro).
In November 2008, Navas was appointed assistant coach ofRicardo Zielinski atChacarita Juniors.[1] He left the position in July 2009.[2]
On 22 March 2010 Navas was appointed manager ofChacarita Juniors who had just dismissedFernando Gamboa, fired after the 0–2 away defeat againstClub Atlético Huracán.[3] However, he lasted less than one month at the helm of the team, leaving on 19 April.[4] At the end of December 2010, Navas was appointed manager ofPlatense.[5] He was in charge for 11 games, before his contract was terminated by mutual consent.[6]
In 2012, Navas was hired as a youth coach at his former clubBoca Juniors.[7]
At the end of August 2014, Navas returned toBoca Juniors as an assistant coach under managerRodolfo Arruabarrena.[8] In June 2016, Navas followed Arruabarrena toAl Wasl, once again functioning as his assistant.[9]
On 11 June 2019, Navas was appointed manager ofFénix.[10] After poor results, Navas was released on 16 October 2019.[11] In 2020, he returned toBoca Juniors as a youth coach.[12]
