TheMaud and Belle Ainsworth House is a historichouse located in theSouthwest Hills neighborhood ofPortland,Oregon. It is listed on theNational Register of Historic Places.
Maud Ainsworth was a prominentNorthwest photographer in a cutting-edge,modernist style. The 1907Arts and Crafts house she shared with her sister Belle included herstudio anddarkroom. The sisters were the two youngest daughters of pioneer businessman andsteamboat ownerJohn C. Ainsworth. Belle Ainsworth, under her married name of Jenkins, is also associated with the National Register listedJenkins Estate in nearbyWashington County.[3]
The house is a defining work ofarchitectWilliam C. Knighton, a designer of importance throughout Oregon.[3]
