Matthew Russell Wood is an American sound editor and voice actor. He is a supervising sound editor atSkywalker Sound inMarin County, California. He also provides the voice ofGeneral Grievous in theStar Wars franchise.

Career

Starting atLucasfilm as a game tester atLucasArts,[1] Wood then moved to the company'ssound department and worked on all three films of theStar Warsprequel trilogy as supervising sound editor and also did an uncredited acting role inThe Phantom Menace as Bib Fortuna and the voice of Ody Mandrell. InAttack of the Clones, he played Seboca and Magaloof. InStar Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, in addition to a brief appearance as Orn Free Taa, Wood plays the voice role ofGeneral Grievous, a role originated by voice actorsJohn DiMaggio andRichard McGonagle in the seriesStar Wars: Clone Wars. In the film, he dubbed the voice of stuntman Kyle Rowling, who played General Grievous utilizing motion capture.

He would later come back to work with theStar Wars expanded universe. He reprised his voice role of General Grievous inGeneral Grievous Halloween audiocast as well as all video game appearances of Grievous with the exception ofStar Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron where Grievous was played by David W. Collins. He reprised his role as General Grievous and the battle droids in theStar Wars: The Clone Wars film and associatedtelevision series. In the series, he once again voiced Grievous as well as Wat Tambor,[2] HELIOS-3D,[3] senate guards,[3] the battle droids[3] and Poggle the Lesser.[4] He provided the voice of RO-GR/Roger, a reprogrammed battle droid inLego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures. He also voicedBib Fortuna inStar Wars: The Bad Batch.[5]

He has received fiveAcademy Award nominations for Sound Editing: forPaul Thomas Anderson’sThere Will Be Blood at the80th Academy Awards, for thePixar sci-fi filmWALL-E at the81st Academy Awards, forStar Wars: The Force Awakens at the88th Academy Awards, forStar Wars: The Last Jedi at the90th Academy Awards, and forStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalker at the92nd Academy Awards.

Wood made an appearance inAdult Swim'sRobot Chicken in 2008.
