Matthew Alexander Sorinola (born 19 February 2001) is an English professionalfootballer who plays as a wing back forEFL League One clubPlymouth Argyle.

Sorinola was born inLambeth.[2] He is of Nigerian descent.[3]

Club career

Milton Keynes Dons

In 2017, Sorinola joinedMilton Keynes Dons academy having previously played forFulham's academy sides. He signed a professional deal with the club in June 2019.[4] During the2019–20 EFL Trophy, Sorinola made three first team appearances, againstFulham U21,Wycombe Wanderers andNewport County.[2] He signed a new contract with MK Dons in December 2019,[5] before joiningBeaconsfield Town on loan in February 2020.[6]

Sorinola scored his first professional goal for the club on 8 September 2020, in a 3–1 EFL Trophy win overNorthampton Town.[7] On 30 January 2021 he scored his first league goal in a 2–0 away win overAFC Wimbledon.[8]

Union SG

On 14 May 2021, Sorinola joined newly-promotedBelgian First Division A sideUnion SG on a three-year deal[9] after rejecting a new deal with MK Dons.[10] He scored his first goal for the club on 18 September 2021 in a 2–1 home win overZulte Waregem.[11]

On 24 June 2022, he joinedEFL Championship clubSwansea City on a season-long loan, reuniting with former coachRussell Martin.[12]

On 28 December 2023, Sorinola was released by mutual consent.[13]

Plymouth Argyle

On 17 January 2024, Sorinola returned to England, joining Championship clubPlymouth Argyle.[14]
