Matteo Stoppa (born 27 September 2000) is an Italian professionalfootballer who plays as aforward forSerie C Group B clubSambenedettese.[1]
Stoppa joined the Novara academy at the age of 10, and had a trial withManchester City in 2016.[2] Stoppa made his professional debut for Novara in aSerie B 2-0 loss toCarpi on 18 May 2017, at the age of 16.[3][4]
On 8 August 2019, he moved toJuventus.[5]
On 30 January 2020, he joinedSampdoria on loan with an obligation to buy.[6] He played for Sampdoria's Under-19 squad for the remainder of the 2019–20 season.
On 23 September 2020, he was loaned toSerie C clubPistoiese.[7] On 26 July 2021, he joined another Serie C clubJuve Stabia on loan.[8]
On 28 July 2022, Stoppa was loaned toPalermo, with an option to buy.[9] The loan was however terminated on 1 September 2022, with the player making three league appearances as a substitute with theRosanero, as he was immediately loaned out to Serie C sideVicenza for the rest of the season.[10]
After returning to Sampdoria and appearing in aCoppa Italia game and their2023–24 Serie B season opener, on 21 August 2023 Stoppa moved on loan toCatanzaro.[11]
On 30 August 2024, Stoppa signed a three-season contract withCatania.[12]
Stoppa was a youth international for Italy.[13]
