Matchbox is afree andopen sourcewindow manager for theX Window System. It is mainly intended forembedded systems and differs from most other window managers in that it only shows one window at a time. It is used byMaemo onNokia Internet Tablets, theNeo 1973 smartphone based onOpenmoko, theVernier LabQuest handheld data acquisition device for science education, as well as on theXO-1 of theOne Laptop Per Child Project.[4] before being replaced byMetacity.[5]
The project is currently developed under theYocto Project.
Matchbox Window Manager II is a complete rewrite of the original m-w-m. It is in early stages of development.
