Route 62 is an 82.1817-mile-long (132.2586 km) east–weststate route inMassachusetts. The route crosses four of the Bay State's 13 interstates (I-190,I-495,I-93, andI-95), as well asU.S. Route 1 (US 1),US 3,Route 2 andRoute 128 as it heads from the northern hills ofWorcester County through the northern portions ofGreater Boston, ending in theNorth Shore city of Beverly atRoute 127.
Route 62 begins inBarre, in the north central hills ofWorcester County, atRoutes 32 and122, at the town's commons and center. It heads northeastward into the town ofHubbardston, intersectingRoute 68 before heading intoPrinceton. In Princeton, Route 62 has a short concurrency withRoute 31. It then crosses into Sterling, intersecting withRoute 140 and passing underneathInterstate 190 without interchange, before passing through the town's center concurrently withRoute 12.



From Sterling, Route 62 passes through the southern end of the town ofLancaster before enteringClinton. In Clinton, it is concurrent withRoute 70 for most of the town, with a short section being triply concurrent withRoute 110. Routes 62 and 70 pass through the center of town and pass the dam on theNashua River which creates theWachusett Reservoir before Route 62 heads eastward again, splitting with Route 70 at theBoylston town line. After crossing through the town ofBerlin, it has an interchange withInterstate 495 at Exit 67 (formerly 26) before crossing intoMiddlesex County and the town ofHudson.
In Hudson, Route 62 has a junction and short concurrency withRoute 85 as it heads eastward, crossing theAssabet River before entering northward into the town ofStow. At the center of Stow, Route 62 turns eastward again, becoming concurrent withRoute 117 for two miles into the town ofMaynard. In Maynard, the route crosses the Assabet River twice more, the second time concurrently withRoute 27. Following the path of the Assabet, it then passes through the southern corner ofActon before heading intoConcord. In Concord, Route 62 joins the town's Main Street, passing theWest Concord Depot, a commuter rail stop along theFitchburg Line. As Main Street, Route 62 intersectsRoute 2 and crosses theSudbury River before leaving that road at Concord's town common, just south of the site of theBattle of Concord.
Route 62 continues northeastward into Bedford, where it shares a three-way concurrency withRoutes 4 and225, passing the historic Fitch Tavern before splitting from those roads. It then has a junction withU. S. Route 3 at Exit 73 (formerly 26) before enteringBurlington. It crosses the oldMiddlesex Turnpike before arcing northward to meetRoute 3A just south of theBillerica town line. It becomes concurrent with Route 3A southward for half a mile before turning northward, heading into the town ofWilmington. In Wilmington it crossesRoutes 38 and129 just south of theWilmington Station along theLowell Line of theMBTA Commuter Rail line. It then has a junction withInterstate 93 at Exit 34 (formerly 40) just east of Route 62's intersection with the southern end ofRoute 125. After crossing I-93, Route 62 heads eastward intoNorth Reading. It shares a quarter-mile long concurrency withRoute 28 before continuing eastward intoEssex County and the town ofMiddleton.
In Middleton, Route 62 heads north one final time, sharing a shortwrong-way concurrency withRoute 114 before turning eastward, crossing theIpswich River before finally turning southeastward into the town ofDanvers. In Danvers, the route has consecutive interchanges withU.S. Route 1 (along the Newburyport Turnpike) andI-95, just north of the formerDanvers State Hospital site. It continues eastward, crossingRoute 35 andRoute 128 (at Exit 43, formerly exit 22) before enteringBeverly. In Beverly, Route 62 crossesRoutes 1A and22 before finally ending atRoute 127, just a tenth of a mile north of Mackerel Cove, Beverly Harbor andMassachusetts Bay.
