Taishō Sugō (菅生 大将,Sugō Taishō; born February 21, 1993), known professionally asMasaki Suda (菅田 将暉,Suda Masaki), is a Japanese actor and singer. He won theJapan Academy Film Prize for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role for the filmWilderness.[1][2]
Suda was born inMinoh, Osaka Prefecture. His father,Arata Sugō, is a management consultant, journalist, author, andtelevision personality.[3] He has two younger brothers: the singer and internet personalityKocchi no Kento, and modelAraki Sugō.[4]
Suda met talent agents while at school. He had several auditions atAmuse Inc. andJunon Superboy Contest [ja]. He starred in thetokusatsu seriesKamen Rider W. He won the Best New Actor Award at Tama Cinema Forum and the Japan Academy Film Prize for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role inWilderness.[5] Suda starred in the live-action film adaptation ofRobico's manga seriesMy Little Monster.[6] He starred inHayao Miyazaki's anime filmThe Boy and the Heron.
He appeared in the biopic film about Hide of the groupGreeeen. They released an EP,Green Boys.[7] Suda released the albums,Play andLove.[8]
Suda married actressNana Komatsu on November 15, 2021.[9] They have starred together in the films,Drowning Love andThreads: Our Tapestry of Love.[10] On March 9, 2024, Suda announced through his agency that he and Komatsu had welcomed their first child.[11]
