Marzieh Afkham (Persian:مرضیه افخم) is anIranian diplomat who serves as Iran ambassador to Slovenia since 2025. She also served as the ambassador to Malaysia for four years. She is considered "one of Iran's most high-profile female public figures".[2]
Afkham is the former spokeswoman and head of the Center for Public and Media Diplomacy in Iran'sMinistry of Foreign Affairs,[3] the first female spokesperson for the ministry.[4] On 8 November 2015 she was appointed as ambassador to Malaysia, becoming the first female Iranian ambassador since the1979 revolution[5] and the second in history afterMehrangiz Dowlatshahi.[6]
