Marya Cohn is an American screenwriter and director.
In 1994, Cohn directed the student short filmDeveloping. The film starred a then unknownNatalie Portman in her first film role.
In 2013, Cohn began filming her feature film debut,The Girl in the Book starringEmily Vancamp in a semi-autobiographical film about a young book editor who is forced to work with a man who abused her as a teenager.[1] Post-production for the film was completed viakickstarter[2] The film premiered at the 2015Los Angeles Film Festival.[3] It was acquired byMyriad Pictures and given a limited release in December 2015.[4]
Cohn is the daughter of talent agentSam Cohn. She is ofpartially Jewish descent.[5]
In 1994, she married directorFraser Bresnahan.[6]
