Mary Cross (born 1934) is an American professor, editor, writer and biographer. She has written several books including biographies of figures such asHenry James[1] andMadonna. Her bookMadonna: A Biography was reviewed byNew York Post as "fast, accurate and concise",[citation needed][2] became widely quoted[3][4] and translated.[5] Cross isprofessor emerita of English atFairleigh Dickinson University,[6] and she has taught at theCity University of New York andUniversity of Delaware.[7] Cross has a PhD fromRutgers University and a BA from theUniversity of Michigan. As an editor, she publisher various works, including100 People Who Changed 20th-Century America.
