Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is an upcomingaction-adventure game developed bySkydance New Media and published byPlaion. Inspired by the 2010Marvel Comicslimited seriesCaptain America/Black Panther: Flags of Our Fathers,[1][2][3] and set inOccupied Paris duringWorld War II, it involves Americansuper soldier Steve Rogers (Captain America) forming an uneasy alliance withAzzuri (Black Panther), the king ofWakanda, as they attempt to prevent the rise of the terrorist organizationHydra.
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra was jointly announced by Skydance andMarvel Games in October 2021 as the first project to be produced from the former studio, alongside the involvement of studio headsAmy Hennig and Julian Beak as producers, with television and comics writerMarc Bernardin confirmed as writing the game alongside Hennig the following month.

The game will be an action-adventure video game where players will control an ensemble of four characters. In addition to the main protagonistsSteve Rogers / Captain America andAzzuri / Black Panther,Howling Commandos memberGabriel Jones and Nanali, the leader of the Wakandan Spy Network, will be playable.[4]
In November 2019,Skydance Media asked video game director and writerAmy Hennig to establish a game division within the company.[5][6] In October 2021, the division, asSkydance New Media, announced that the studio's first major project would be "a narrative-driven, blockbuster action-adventure game" developed in collaboration withMarvel Games, and featuring an original story.[7] The following month,Marvel Comics writer and television producerMarc Bernardin revealed that he was involved as a writer, confirming that he had "spent the better part of a year in the story mines" creating the narrative.[8]
The game was teased during theD23 Expo showcase on September 9, 2022, revealing the game'sensemble cast and antagonist.[9][10][11] In March 2024, Skydance and Marvel revealed the game's full title asMarvel 1943: Rise of Hydra duringGame Developers Conference (GDC) 2024, also presenting a story trailer that demonstrated the game's use ofUnreal Engine 5 and its character animations.[12][13] The cast was unveiled by Marvel, confirming thatKhary Payton and Drew Moerlein would lead the ensemble as Azzuri and Steve Rogers respectively, alongsideMarque Richardson as Gabriel Jones andMegalyn Echikunwoke as Nanali. Marvel announced that Joel Johnstone would portrayHoward Stark, an ally of Captain America and a tech genius who is also the future father ofTony Stark, whileLyne Renée would appear as Julie, an original character created for the game.Stephen Barton was revealed as the game's composer.[14] ActressJanina Gavankar is confirmed to have a role.[15]
On July 29, 2024, Skydance New Media partnered withPlaion to publishMarvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.[16]
