Martin Järveoja (Estonian pronunciation:[ˈmɑr.tinˈjær.ʋeˈojɑ]; born 18 August 1987) is an Estonianrallyco-driver. He is currently teamed withOtt Tänak and is competing forHyundai Motorsport in theWorld Rally Championship.
He is the son of Estonian politicianToomas Järveoja, and originally aJudo competitor (he was five-time champion in Estonia).[2] Järveoja began hisrally career in 2006,co-driving for several drivers, including his cousin Ken Järveoja and uncle Tarmo Järveoja, competing in the regional and national championships.[2]
In 2010, Järveoja made his debut in theWorld Rally Championship, co-driving forKarl Kruuda inJordan.[3] The pair finished fifth in the2014 World Rally Championship-2 after wins in Finland and Sweden.[4]
In December 2016, Järveoja signed a contract withM-Sport World Rally Team and formed a partnership withOtt Tänak.[5] He and Tänak claimed their first World Rally Championship victory in the2017 Rally Italia Sardegna.[6]
From2018, Järveoja and Tänak compete forToyota Gazoo Racing WRT.[7] In2019, they won inSweden,Chile,Portugal,Finland,Germany andWales. They were crowned the world champions inCatalunya, with one race to spare.[8]
