Martin Dejdar (born 11 March 1965) is aCzech actor, writer, comedian, director, television presenter, producer and entertainer.

Biography

Dejdar was born on 11 March 1965. He was born in the hospital inVysoké Mýto, but never lived there, grew up inChrast and considers himself a native of Chrast.[1] He graduated from theTheatre Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, from which he holds aMagister degree.

Career

Dejdar is known for his numerous starring roles both comedic and dramatic in theatre, television and film.[2]

A hard-workingmethod actor[3] known for his resolute devotion and research for his roles,[4] Dejdar is considered to be one of the most prominent actors of his generation.[5][6]

Since his debut in 1979, he has amassed over one hundred television and film credits.[7] His lead film roles inWhy?,Big Beat andThe Manor made him a household name in the Czechoslovakia.[8][9][10] He also portrayed Karl Rossmann in the Czech adaptation ofKafka's novelAmerika. He won the 1995Czech Lion for Best Actor, for his performance in the filmUčitel tance.[11]

On stage, he gained acclaim for his performances at Studio Ypsilon, TheSummer Shakespeare Festival and The Bobycentrum inBrno.[12] Among his hundred stage credits,[13] he starred in productions ofThe Servant of Two Masters,Play It Again, Sam,Othello,Anna Karenina,The Brothers Karamazov andA Midsummer Night's Dream.

He played Ozzak in the sitcomComeback, starring withTomáš Matonoha. In 2017, he participated in the reality showTvoje tvář má známý hlas, the third season of Czech version ofYour Face Sounds Familiar. After the 12 weeks, he placed 5th. He returned as the guest judge in the second episode of the fourth season.

Starting in 1988, he is the voice ofBart Simpson on theCzech dub of The Simpsons.[14] Beside his voice role in the CzechSimpsons, he also voiced the Czech-version of Stuart Little in theStuart Little films,Horton the Elephant inHorton Hears a Who!, Reggie inFree Birds andKing Louie in live action version ofThe Jungle Book.
