Marsel Efroimski (Hebrew:מרסל אפרוימסקי; born February 13, 1995) is an Israelichess player. She was awarded the title ofInternational Master (IM) byFIDE in 2021.[1]
She is currently (December 2021) the top rated Israeli woman chess player.
She was introduced to chess by her grandfather in her hometown ofKfar Saba, and has been competing internationally since 2007. Her parents immigrated to Israel from the former Soviet Union.[2]
Efroimski won theWorld Youth Chess Championship twice, in the Girls Under 12 category atKemer in 2007 and in the Girls Under 14 atAntalya in 2009,[3] as well as theEuropean Youth Chess Championship in the Girls Under 14 division atFermo in 2009.[4][5] At the Girls under-16 European Youth Chess Championship inAlbena 2011 Efroimski scored 7 of 9 points and tied for first place with four other players. She was awarded the third prize on tiebreaks.[6]
She represented Israel in theWomen's Chess Olympiad atDresden 2008,[7] atKhanty-Mansiysk 2010,[8] atIstanbul 2012[9] atBaku 2016,[10] and atBatumi 2018.[11] She was awarded theWoman FIDE Master title in 2008, theWoman International Master title in 2011, and theWoman Grandmaster (WGM) title in 2016.[1]
