Mark Anthony Coffey (born 13 February 1990)[1] is a Scottishprofessional wrestler signed toWWE, where he performs on theNXTbrand as a member ofGallus.[4] He is also a formerNXT UK Heritage Cup andNXT UK Tag Team Champion.[5][6]

Coffey is also known for his tenure withInsane Championship Wrestling (ICW), where he became a three-timeICW Zero-G champion.

Professional wrestling career

Early career (2010-2018)

Coffey debuted as a wrestler for the independent promotion World Wide Wrestling League in 2010. Before his arrangement with WWE, he wrestled for various other promotions includingPro Wrestling Elite, Target Wrestling and the Scottish Wrestling Alliance, winning several titles.[7]

Insane Championship Wrestling (2012-2019)

Coffey made hisICW match at the ICW 1st Annual Square Go! battle royal on 21 January 2012.[8] In his early run he would work withNoam Dar, Andy Wild and his brother in efforts to win theICW Tag Team Championship[9] andICW Zero-G Championship.[10]

Between 2013 and 2018, he would become a three-timeICW Zero-G Champion by defeating Mikey Whiplash, Fergall Devitt and Aaron Echo, Andy Wild, DCT,Jordan Devlin andRampage Brown in a gauntlet atICW: BarraMania 4. He also earned four ICW Tag Team Championship reigns with Polo Promotions partner Jackie Polo through wins overBrian Kendrick and Paul London, Kid Fite andSha Samuels, Davey Boy andJoe Hendry, and Mike Bird andWild Boar. He also got two chances at theICW World Heavyweight Championship, firstly againstTrent Seven in 2017 and lastly againstLionheart in 2019.[11][12]

WWE (2018–present)

NXT UK (2018–2022)

Coffey would regularly appear on theNXT UK brand, being accompanied by his brotherJoe in a winning effort on the first ever televised match onNXT UK. They would both go on to form the stableGallus alongsideWolfgang and feud withBritish Strong Style.[13]

On the 6 February 2019 episode ofNXT UK, Coffey facedWalter in a losing effort in Walter's second match onNXT UK.[14] On the 4 October episode ofNXT UK, Mark and Wolfgang defeated previous championsMark Andrews andFlash Morgan Webster for theNXT UK Tag Team Championship, going on to hold it for 497 days.[15]

On the 14 July 2022 episode ofNXT UK, Coffey defeatedNoam Dar to become the newNXT UK Heritage Cup Champion.[16] He would soon lose it back to Dar on the 25 August episode ofNXT UK.[17]

NXT (2022–present)

OnNXT Heatwave, Gallus made theirNXT 2.0 debut, attackingDiamond Mine.[18] On August 23, 2022, Gallus made their tag team debut on NXT facingNXT UK Tag Team ChampionsBrooks Jensen andJosh Briggs, which they would win via countout. AtWorlds Collide, Gallus became the second team eliminated from theFatal four-way tag team elimination match for theNXT andNXT UK Tag Team Championship. Gallus would have a rivalry with Briggs and Jensen, with the latter winning aNo Disqualification tag team match between the teams. Gallus was suspended in September for attacking officials.[19]

AtNew Year's Evil on January 10, 2023, Gallus returned from their suspension and won agauntlet match to become the #1 contenders for theNXT Tag Team Championship, which Coffey and Wolfgang won onVengeance Day the month after.[20][21] On the 14 March episode ofNXT, Gallus retained their titles againstPretty Deadly. AtNXT Stand & Deliver, Gallus defeated theCreed Brothers and The Family to retain the tag titles with help from a returning Joe Coffey.[22] Gallus would defend against the Creeds andThe Dyad in the next months including a triple-threat on the 14 April episode ofNXT and against the Creeds atNXT Battleground.[23] AtNXT Gold Rush, Gallus defeated Malik Blade and Edris Enofe.[24] AtNXT: The Great American Bash, Gallus lost the NXT Tag Team Championship toTony D'Angelo andChanning "Stacks" Lorenzo, ending their reign at 176 days.[25]

In April 2024,ESPN reported that Gallus help trainedThe Rock for his tag team match withUndisputed WWE Universal ChampionRoman Reigns againstCody Rhodes andWorld Heavyweight ChampionSeth "Freakin" Rollins at Night 1 ofWrestleMania XL.[26] On the May 14, 2024 episode of NXT, and as the show was going off the air, the cameras went backstage, showingWes Lee,Josh Briggs andIvar assaulted backstage. The attackers were then revealed to be Gallus, making their first televised appearance on NXT since the February 13, 2024 episode of NXT.[27]
