BishopMariusz Tomasz Dmyterko (Ukrainian:Маріуш Тома Дмитерко; born 29 December 1979) is a PolishUkrainian Greek Catholic hierarch, who is serving as a Titular Bishop ofTzernicus and an Auxiliary Bishop ofEparchy of Wrocław–Koszalin since 10 July 2025.
Dmyterko was born into the large family of farmers Mykhailo and Olha inBytów. He has four brothers: Andrzej, Dariusz, Borisław and Michał. After graduation of the school education, he attended the Major Theological Seminary inLublin, simultaneously studying in theJohn Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (1999–2005). He later studied at the Faculty of Theology at theUniversity of Opole and in 2016 he received aDoctor of Theology degree at thePontifical Gregorian University inRome, Italy.[1]
He was ordained as priest on 20 August 2005 inBiały Bór for theUkrainian Catholic Eparchy of Wrocław-Gdańsk by eparchial bishopWłodzimierz Juszczak[2] and appointed assistant priest in the parish ofLegnica, where he where he also taught Greek Catholic catechism in local schools inLegnica,Rosochata,Dąbie andWągrodno (2005–2010)[1]
In 2016, after returning from Rome, Dmyterko became the parish priest inBiały Bór,Bielica andMiędzybórz. He was a member of the priestly council of the Eparchy (2019–2025) and appointed an Eparchial Censor, responsible for the dogmatic correctness of doctrine and liturgical literature in 2021.[1]
On 10 July 2025, Dmyterko was appointed byPope Leo XIV as a Titular Bishop ofTzernicus and an Auxiliary Bishop ofEparchy of Wrocław–Koszalin.[3][2]
Hisconsecration to theepiscopate took place on 13 September 2025 in theExaltation of the Holy Cross Cathedral inWrocław.[4] The principalconsecrator was a Major ArchbishopSviatoslav Shevchuk, the Head of theUkrainian Greek Catholic Church with other hierarchs of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.[2]
