Mario E. Cosenza was an educator andclassical scholar of theItalian Humanists. He was the first principal ofTownsend Harris Hall Prep School and Dean of Faculty atBrooklyn College in New York.[1]
Mario Emilio Benvenuto Angelo Cosenza was born inNaples, Italy on November 21, 1880, to Giuseppe Francesco Cosenza, a painter, and Emilia Cosenza, anopera singer. He and his three siblings emigrated to the United States in 1896, joining his parents, who had come to the United States four years earlier.
Cosenza studied atColumbia University, with a dissertation entitled "Official positions after the time of Constantine" published in 1905.
