Mario Bailey (born November 30, 1970) is an American former professionalfootball player. He is the all-time receptions leader inNFL Europe.[1] He played for theFrankfurt Galaxy from 1995 through 2000 and was a favorite player of the local German fans.[2]
Bailey playedcollege football for theWashington Huskies, earning consensusAll-American honors in 1991. He was selected by theHouston Oilers in the sixth round of the1992 NFL draft.[3][4] He was also drafted by theOrlando Rage of theXFL with the 52nd pick in the2001 XFL draft. In 2003, Bailey played in theArena Football League with theDetroit Fury.
Bailey is a formerhigh school footballcoach at his alma mater,Franklin High School inSeattle,Washington, and is a member of theSeattle Seahawks high school council.
After high school at Franklin, Bailey had a record-breakingcollege football career nearby at theUniversity of Washington from1988 through1991 under head coachDon James. He played a key role as a senior in 1991 on theHuskies'national championshipteam, and holds the Husky records for touchdowns in a season (18), career (30), and shares the record with several others for touchdowns in a game.
Bailey and NFL tight endAaron Pierce were teammates at Franklin and Washington.
