Marie Tifo (French pronunciation:[maʁitifo]; born September 26, 1949, inJonquière,Quebec)[1] is a Canadianactress, and a major star in French-speaking Canada.

She won aGenie Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in the 1980drama filmGood Riddance (Les Bons débarras).[2]

She played the recurring role of Mathilde Garland in the TVA seriesLes Sœurs Elliot.[3]

Tifo starred inLa Déraison d'amour at theThéâtre du Nouveau Monde in Montreal from 2–13 June 2009, portraying beatified nunMarie de l'Incarnation.[4] This stage biography ofMarie Guyard, a widowed mother who crossed the Atlantic to establish theUrsuline order of nuns, had premiered that past fall inQuebec City as part of the 400th anniversary celebrations, then touredFrance.[5] The script was written by filmmakerJean-Daniel Lafond for his filmFolle de Dieu (Madwoman of God) which also starred Tifo, and premiered inQuebec City in 2008.[5]
