Mariano Navone (born 27 February 2001) is an Argentine professionaltennis player. He has a career-highATP singles ranking of world No. 29, achieved on 10 June 2024 and a doubles ranking of No. 140, achieved on 16 June 2025.[2] He is currently the No. 6 singles player from Argentina.

Early life and background

Navone was born inNueve de Julio, Buenos Aires, to Luis Navone and Analía Vizzón. He is of Italian descent. He has two sisters, Lucía and Pilar.[3][4] He began playing tennis at the age of three, and attended theEscuela de Tenis del Club Atletico Nueve de Julio.[4][5]

Navone won fiveATP Challenger singles titles, all during the 2023 season.[6]

2024: ATP, Major, Masters debuts & first wins, top 30

He made his ATP Tour debut at the2024 Córdoba Open as a wildcard. He also qualified for the next Latin American Golden swing tournament on home soil at the2024 Argentina Open.Ranked No. 113, he qualified for his first ATP 500 tournament at the2024 Rio Open and defeated compatriotFederico Coria for his first ATP win. He reached his first ATP semifinal defeatingYannick Hanfmann and wildcardJoão Fonseca.[7] He reached his first final defeating defending champion and second seedCameron Norrie, his first top-50 win. As a result he reached the top 60, raising 50 positions up in the rankings.[8] Navone became the first qualifier to reach an ATP 500 final sinceJiří Veselý in Dubai in 2022.[9] He lost to fifth seedSebastián Báez in an all-Argentine final.[10][11]He entered the next Golden swing tournament, the2024 Chile Open with aspecial exempt (SE) status.

Seeded seventh at the2024 Grand Prix Hassan II he reached the semifinals defeating wildcardAziz Dougaz,Stan Wawrinka andAleksandar Vukic before losing to eventual championMatteo Berrettini. As a result he reached a new career-high singles ranking of No. 51 on 8 April 2024.[12]By reaching the second round at the2024 Țiriac Open in Bucharest, with a win overLuciano Darderi as the fifth seed, he moved into the top 50 in the rankings.[13] Next he defeatedThiago Seyboth Wild, top seedFrancisco Cerúndolo and qualifierGrégoire Barrère to reach his second ATP career final.[14]At the2024 Mutua Madrid Open on his Masters debut, he reached the second round defeatingAlexei Popyrin.[15]He won the biggest title of his career thus far, at the2024 Sardegna Open Challenger in Cagliari, Italy and moved into the top 35 in the rankings on 6 May 2024.[16][17][18]

Navone entered the2024 French Open seeded 31st, making history as the first player to make their first Grand Slam main draw as a seeded player.[19]

At theChallenger 1252025 Brawo Open Navone defeated compatriot and good friendJuan Manuel Cerúndolo lifting his first Challenger title since 2023.[20][21]
