Marguerite was a 1,544-ton French ship built by Osbourne, Graham & Co. Ltd. ofNorth Hylton inSunderland in 1912.
On 28 June 1917 she was sailing fromRouen toSwansea when she was torpedoed and sunk inLyme Bay by the German submarineUB-40 under the command ofOberleutnant zur SeeHans Howaldt.[2][3] The wreck lies at50°36′06″N02°58′39″W / 50.60167°N 2.97750°W /50.60167; -2.97750.
