Marcelo Hermes (born 1 February 1995) is a Brazilian professionalfootballer who plays as aleft back forJuventude, on loan fromCriciúma.
Born inSarandi,Rio Grande do Sul, Hermes started his career at a football academy inNova Boa Vista.[1] Shortly after, he playedfutsal at SERCESA ofCarazinho with whom he won a state title.[citation needed] In 2008, Hermes joinedFigueirense where he stayed one season. In 2009, he had a very quick visit toPorto Alegre sideInternacional, before joining city rivalsGrêmio. There he played in youth ranks until 2014.
At the end of 2014, Hermes was brought to Grêmio's first-team byLuiz Felipe Scolari. However, Hermes did not play any match and was only on the bench againstFlamengo inSérie A. It was only in 2015, after being registered inCampeonato Gaúcho, that he got his first opportunity to play. On 31 January, Hermes debuted professionally in a 3–0home win overUnião Frederiquense in theleague's first round.
On 4 January 2017, Hermes signed for Portuguese championsBenfica until 2021.[2]
In January 2019, after on year on loan withCruzeiro fromBenfica, he signed a two-year contract withCruzeiro[3] and joinedGoiás on one year loan.[4]
In August 2020, Hermes signed a two-year contract withMarítimo.[5]
