Marcello Fonte (born 1978) is an Italian actor. He received theCannes Film Festival Award for Best Actor for his role in the filmDogman.
Fonte lived his childhood and adolescence in the suburbs ofReggio Calabria, where at the age of 10 he learned to play the snare drum in the town's band. He then moved toRome in 1999, where he worked as guardian[further explanation needed] at theTeatro Valle. Here he became passionate about acting, and was given small parts in television and film productions.[1]
In 2018, Fonte received critical acclaim for his performance inMatteo Garrone'sDogman[2] and was awarded theBest Actor Award at the2018 Cannes Film Festival.[3] He was also awarded theEuropean Film Award for Best Actor at the31st European Film Awards for his performance in this film.[4]
