Maraanaz (Arabic:مرعناز,romanized: Mir'anāz) is a village nearAzaz in northwesternAleppo Governorate of northernSyria.
Administratively part ofNahiya Azaz, Maaranaz had a population of 959 in the 2004 census.[1] Nearby localities includeAzaz to the northeast,Menagh to the southeast, andMaryamin to the west.
Maraanaz is located by theBaghdad Railway connectingAleppo with the Turkish city ofAdana, and by the strategichighway 214 toGaziantep.
