Mamassani County (Persian:شهرستان ممسنی;Luri: شَرسۊݩ مَمَسسَنی) is inFars province, Iran. Its capital is the city ofNurabad,[3] 125 kilometers fromShiraz.

History

After the 2006 National Census,Rostam District was separated from the county in the establishment ofRostam County.[4] The village ofKhumeh Zar-e Sofla was elevated to the city ofKhumeh Zar.[5] After the 2011 census, the village ofBaba Monir rose to city status.[6]

In March 2019,Jowzar Rural District was separated from theCentral District in the formation ofJowzar District, which was divided into two rural districts, including the newPereshkaft Rural District.[7]

TheMamasani (also Mohammad-Hassani) tribe also resides in this county and speaks theMamasani dialect of theLuri language.

Population

At the time of the 2006 census, the county's population was 162,694 in 35,145 households.[8] The following census in 2011 counted 116,386 people in 30,928 households.[9] The 2016 census measured the population of the county as 117,527 in 35,060 households.[2]
