Malika Sorel-Sutter (bornHalima Mayouf; 7 August 1962) is a Frenchessayist andpolitician. Her work focuses on the problems ofeducation and training of younger generations,family policy,immigration issues andFrench foreign policy.[1][2] She was elected as aMember of the European Parliament in2024.[3]

Biography

Born inMarseille, daughter ofAlgerian immigrants parents, Malika Sorel-Sutter completed her primary and secondary studies in theFrench educational system. She moved toAlgeria when she was 10 years old and returned to France at 25. She is an engineer fromÉcole Polytechnique d'Algiers and has anMBA fromSciences Po (1996).[4] After working in executive recruiting for thehigh-tech sector, she began writing about social issues, such asimmigration issues and aboutFrench foreign policy.[5]

On 4 September 2009, she was appointed, byNicolas Sarkozy, as a member of theSuperior Council for Integration created byMichel Rocard in 1989, a position she held until the dissolution of this council byFrançois Hollande on 24 December 2012.[6][7]

N. Beau, associate professor at theMaghreb Institute at Paris University, notes that her positions are published on sites such as, among others,Riposte Laïque, and that his blog is regularly cited byfar-right sites, which the identity bloc “gives its panegyric” and qualifies it as a “fundamentalist of secularism”.[8]

On 24 March 2024, Malika Sorel announces that she will join theNational Rally list led byJordan Bardella for the2024 European elections, as second in the RN list.[9]
