Malibcong, officially theMunicipality of Malibcong (Ilocano:Ili ti Malibcong;Tagalog:Bayan ng Malibcong), is amunicipality in theprovince ofAbra,Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 4,027 people.[3]
Malibcong is located at17°34′N120°59′E / 17.56°N 120.99°E /17.56; 120.99.
According to thePhilippine Statistics Authority, the municipality has a land area of 283.17 square kilometres (109.33 sq mi) [5] constituting6.80% of the 4,165.25-square-kilometre- (1,608.21 sq mi) total area of Abra.
Malibcong is politically subdivided into 12barangays.[6] Each barangay consists ofpuroks and some havesitios.

In the 2020 census, Malibcong had a population of 4,027.[3] The population density was 14 inhabitants per square kilometre (36/sq mi).
The Itneg tribe can be found in Malibcong and they speak a sub-dialect ofBanao Itneg language, and Ilocano. There are three dialects in malibcong: Banao, Gubang and Mabaka.

Malibcong, belonging to thelone congressional district of the province ofAbra, is governed by a mayor designated as its local chief executive and by a municipal council as its legislative body in accordance with the Local Government Code. The mayor, vice mayor, and the councilors are elected directly by the people through an election which is being held every three years.
