Maino Neri (Italian pronunciation:[ˈmainoˈneːri]; 30 June 1924 – 8 December 1995) was an Italianfootballer and manager who played as amidfielder.
Neri was born inCarpi,Modena. After spending 10 years with local sideModena, and making a couple trips toSerie B and back, Neri at 27 years of age became part ofAlfredo Foni'sInter. With the 'nerazzurri' he won two consecutiveSerie A championships in four years before closing his career withBrescia, which played in Serie B.
Neri debuted for thenational team at the1948 London Olympics wearing thecaptain's arm band in his first game (all eleven players were making their debut in the game against theU.S.) and played a total of eight caps, among which were games againstSwitzerland andBelgium at the1954 World Cup. He was also a member of the Italy national squad that took part at the1952 Summer Olympics.[1]
