Mahinda Wijesekera is aSri Lankan politician, former Fisheriescabinet minister[1] and a former member of theParliament of Sri Lanka. In 2001, Wijesekara left the PresidentChandrika Kumaratunga's rulingSri Lanka Freedom Party and joinedUnited National Party along with few other senior ministers of the government such asS. B. Dissanayake andG. L. Peiris.[2] He was a member of the working committee of UNP and the party organiser for Weligama. However, in 2006 UNP leaderRanil Wickramasinghe removed from all of his positions in the party as a result of internal crisis against the leadership.[3] On 2007, Wijesekara again crossed over toUnited People's Freedom Alliance government.[4] He was the Telecommunications Minister in the government. He was injured ina suicide bombing in 2009.[5]
