Magda Apanowicz (/æpəˈnoʊvɪtʃ/ap-ə-NOH-vitch;Polish:[apaˈnɔvit͡ʂ]; born November 8, 1985) is a Canadian actress. She is known for her roles as Andy Jensen in theABC Family seriesKyle XY, as Lacy Rand in theSyfyscience fictiondrama seriesCaprica, and as Emily (born Maya Hartwell) in thescience fiction seriesContinuum.
Apanowicz is ofPolish descent and spent a year in Poland in theninth grade.[1] She lived there with her uncle and attended a school inJelenia Góra.[2] She later studied atVancouver Film School.
She became interested in acting at the age of ten, after her brother introduced her toPulp Fiction. She began her career in 2002 with brief appearances in the TV seriesJeremiah andJohn Doe.[3] From 2007 to 2009, she played the role of Andy Jensen onKyle XY. In 2008 she starred in theHallmark Channel original movieEvery Second Counts.[4]
In 2009, Apanowicz was cast as Lacy Rand, a series regular, in the television dramaCaprica, withEric Stoltz andAlessandra Torresani.[5][6][7] She later appeared inHellcats. In 2012, she guest starred in the second season ofJane Espenson's romantic comedy web series,Husbands.[8]
In 2013, Apanowicz appeared as Emily aka Maya Hartwell in the seriesContinuum She also appeared in theEli Roth horror filmThe Green Inferno as Samantha. Although it was filmed in 2012,The Green Inferno was internationally released in 2015.[9]
In 2017, Apanowicz was cast as Angela in the science fiction thriller filmVolition.[10] It was released in 2020.[11]
In 2019, Apanowicz was cast in the recurring role of Sandy on the second season of theNetflix thrillerYou.[12]
