TheMagallanes–Fagnano Fault (Spanish:Falla Fagnano–Magallanes) is a continentaltransform fault.[1] The fault marks atransform boundary between theScotia plate and theSouth American plate, cutting acrosscontinental crust.[2] It runs under theStrait of Magellan's western arm,Almirantazgo Sound andFagnano Lake.
It has been suggested that the Magallanes-Fagnano Fault is a reactivatedsuture of pre-Jurassic age separating thebasement of twoterranes.[2]
