Madhukunda railway station servesMadhukunda, Tiluri village and surrounding areas inPurulia andBankura districts in the Indian state ofWest Bengal. It is located on the southern bank of theDamodar and a railway bridge connects it toDamodar railway station.

History

TheBengal Nagpur Railway main line from Nagpur toAsansol, on theHowrah–Delhi main line, was opened for goods traffic on 1 February 1891.[1]

Electrification

[edit]

The Tatanagar–Adra–Asansol section was electrified in the 1957–1962 period.[2] The Asansol–Purulia sector was electrified in 1961–62.[3]

Economy

[edit]

There is a cement plant, Damodhar Cement Works, owned byACC Ltd. at Madhukunda.[4]
