Machon Meir (Hebrew:מכון מאיר) is areligious Zionist[1]outreach organization andyeshiva located nearGivat Shaul in theJerusalem neighborhood ofKiryat Moshe. It is one of the larger Jewish outreach (Hebrew:קירוב,romanized: kiruv, lit. 'bringing close') organizations inIsrael.

Machon Meir was founded shortly after theYom Kippur War in 1973 byRabbi Dov Bigon. Bigon was educated atMercaz HaRav underRabbi Zvi Yehuda Kook, so while Machon Meir is not officially affiliated with Mercaz HaRav, the two have very similar ideologies.[further explanation needed][2] The yeshiva was founded for and geared toward students with less formalJewish education and/or little knowledge of the Hebrew language.[citation needed] Machon Meir encourages fullparticipation in Israeli society and theIsrael Defense Forces. There is a female branch of the yeshiva Machon Meir called Machon Ora.
In Jerusalem, the Machon Meir yeshiva offers full-time, intensive study programs for young Jewish men of all backgrounds and levels of knowledge[3][4] inHebrew,English,French,Spanish,Portuguese andRussian.[5] Areas of study includeHebrew Bible,Talmud, the writings ofRabbiAbraham Isaac Kook, history,Musar literature, philosophy, and a male-onlyHebrewulpan.[6] Machon Meir is also a common destination fornon-Jews from all over the world seeking anOrthodox conversion toJudaism that will be recognised by theState of Israel.[citation needed]
