Ma'arzaf orMa'rzaf (Arabic:معرزاف) is a village in northernSyria, administratively part of theHama Governorate, located northwest ofHama. Nearby localities includeAsilah to the west,Mahardah to the north,Khitab to the east andUmm al-Tuyur to the south. According to theSyria Central Bureau of Statistics, Maarzaf had a population of 3,175 in the 2004 census.[1] Its inhabitants are predominantlySunni Muslims.[2] Ma'arzaf contains the hamlet ofal-Qubair, which came to global attention in 2012 as the site of theal-Qubair massacre.[3]
