Mesenchyme homeobox 2 (MEOX2) is aprotein that in humans is encoded by theMEOX2gene.[5][6]

Function

[edit]

This gene encodes a member of a subfamily of non-clustered, diverged, antennapedia-likehomeobox-containingtranscription factor genes. The encoded protein may play a role in the regulation of vertebrate limb myogenesis. Mutations in the related mouse protein may be associated with craniofacial and/or skeletal abnormalities, in addition to neurovascular dysfunction observed in Alzheimer's disease.[6] MEOX2 has been implicated in the initiation of tumors in glioma.[7] Additionally, MEOX2 influences several critical processes in lung cancer, including cellular proliferation, invasion, metastasis, angiogenesis, and the development of drug resistance.[8][9]

Interactions

[edit]

MEOX2 has been shown tointeract withPAX1[10] andPAX3.[10]
