Mohamed Abdullah Mohamed Maharoof (born 25 April 1957; also known asSinna Maharoof) is aSri Lankan politician and Member of Parliament.

Early life

Maharoof was born on 25 April 1957.[1] He is a cousin ofImran Maharoof, Member of Parliament.[2]

Career

Maharoof contested the2000 parliamentary election as one of theUnited National Party's (UNP) candidates inTrincomalee District and was first elected toParliament.[3] He was re-elected at the2001 parliamentary election as aUnited National Front (UNF) candidate.[4] He contested the2004 parliamentary election as aSri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) candidate but failed to get re-elected, coming fourth amongst the SLMC candidates.[5]

Maharoof contested the2008 provincial council election as one of the UNF's candidates in Trincomalee District and was elected to theEastern Provincial Council.[6] He contested the2012 provincial council election as a UNP candidate but failed to get re-elected after coming second amongst the UNP candidates.[7]

Maharoof was one of theUnited National Front for Good Governance's candidates in Trincomalee District at the2015 parliamentary election and was elected to Parliament.[8][9][10]
