Méteren (French pronunciation:[metʁɛn]; fromFlemish;Meteren in modern Dutch spelling) is acommune in theNorddepartment in northernFrance.[3] In October 1914, the British army passed through Meteren during theRace to the Sea, and the future Field-MarshalMontgomery of Alamein received aDSO at the rank of Lieutenant.[4]
