Lypky (Ukrainian:Липки) is an historic neighborhood of theUkrainian capitalKyiv located in the administrativePecherskyi District. The name is derived from alime tree (Lypa). Lypky is thede facto government quarter of Ukraine hosting the buildings of theVerkhovna Rada (Parliament), Presidential Administration and Government, as well as ceremonial residences and hotels traditionally used by politicians.
Lypky became known only recently since the 19th century. During that time it has become known as an elite district. Lypky is located between theOld Kyiv neighborhood (bordering byKhreshchatyk) and thePechersk neighborhood across the Klovskyi Descent and Mechnykova Street.
The streets of Lypky were the scenes of the bloodiest episodes of theEuromaidan revolution (2013–2014).
