Katelyn Lapid (born October 24, 2002), known professionally asLyn Lapid, is an American singer-songwriter. She is a member of vocal collective Earcandy. She has released both eps and singles, and her debut album, “BUZZKILL” comes out on April 25th, 2025. It currently has 3 released singles: “buttons,” “coraline,” and “i’ll be happy when”.[1] She also plays the guitar and ukulele.[1][2]

Early life

Lapid is a second-generation[3] Filipino-American born to naturalized American citizens who immigrated from thePhilippines.[4][5] She studied classical piano and played violin in an orchestra for seven years before starting to make covers. She attendedAtholton High School.

Career

Lapid began releasing covers onYouTube andInstagram in 2018.[2] She began writing original songs in February 2020.[2]

In late 2020, Lapid gained popularity for her song "Producer Man", which is about her experience with a badmusic producer.[6] She released an a capella version onTikTok, one verse at a time.[2] She is signed toRepublic Records.[2] Her contract was transferred toMercury Records, a split of Republic Records.[7]

In January 2022, she was named as one ofShazam's top 5 artists to watch in 2022.[4][8] She was featured in amplifyHER, aUnited Nationspodcast.[9]
