Lyla Lerrol is a fictional character appearing inAmerican comic books published byDC Comics. She first appeared in theSuperman newspaper strip on August 27, 1960 before her comics debut inSuperman #141, published September 15 of the same year.[1][2] She is one of the many Superman characters with the initials "LL" (others includeLois Lane,Lex Luthor,Lori Lemaris, andLana Lang).
In pre-Crisis continuity, Lyla Lerrol is aKryptonian actress who Superman meets and falls in love with after accidentally traveling back in time.[3] However, he is attacked by a Kryptonian Flame Beast and propelled away fromKrypton, after which he returns to his own time.[4]
InSuperman #189 (August 1966), Superman meets a robotic duplicate of Lyla on Krypton II, a decoy planet created byJor-El as a defense against alien invaders.
In 1979, theJustice League encounters Lyla on the night before Krypton's destruction, and she learns of Superman's fate.[5]
Adream world incarnation of Lyla namedLyla Ler-Rol[6] appears in "For the Man Who Has Everything".
The post-Crisis incarnation of Lyla, introduced in theSuperman: Godfall story arc (2004),[7] is an alien empath who believes Superman to be a god.[8] When Superman andKandorian rebels confront Lyla, she sacrifices herself to stopPreus from killing Superman.[9]
