Luis Alfredo Ramírez Quioto (Latin American Spanish:[lwisalˈfɾeðoraˈmiɾes]; born 21 November 1977), nicknamedEl Bombero ([elβomˈbeɾo];[a]), is a Honduran formerfootballer who played as astriker. He is nicknamed Bombero because he used to work at a gas station as a gas pump attendant.

Club career

Ramírez started his career atIndependiente and made his professional debut on 10 June 1998 againstOlimpia.[1] He then played forReal España before a short stint with Chinese teamGuangzhou Jili Cars. On his return to Honduras, he played forUniversidad,Honduras Salzburg,Victoria andMarathón. He scored 59 league goals for them altogether from his debut until 2009.[2]

Starting in 2006, Ramírez spent six years playing in China, playing forShanghai Shenhua,Guangzhou Pharmaceutical andHangzhou Greentown. In between he played the 2009 Clausura season with Marathón.[3] Ramírez scored two goals for Guangzhou Pharmaceutical against Wuhan Guanggu in a 3-1 win on the opening fixture of the 2008 Chinese Super League Season. He is the first and the only player to win bothChinese Jia League andChinese Super League golden boot award.

Return to Honduras

He returned to Honduras to play forMarathón in the 2012 Clausura.[4] In summer 2012,el Bombero joinedHonduras de El Progreso of theHonduran second division[5] but he returned to the top flight to play in the 2013 Clausura forDeportes Savio.[6]

Ramírez made his senior debut forHonduras in an April 2000FIFA World Cup qualification match againstNicaragua and he immediately scored his first international goal when coming on as a late sub forMilton Reyes. He has earned a total of 9 caps, scoring 1 goal. He represented his country in only 1FIFA World Cup qualification match and played at the2000 Summer Olympics.[7] Ramirez also played for Honduras at the1999 Pan American Games.[8] He played at the2005 UNCAF Nations Cup[9] and2011 Copa Centroamericana.[10]

His final international was a January2011 Copa Centroamericana match againstEl Salvador.
