Lucky Enam (born September 14, 1952)[1] is a Bangladeshi television and theatre personality.[2][3] She was awardedEkushey Padak by thegovernment of Bangladesh in 2019.[4] She is the current chairperson ofBangladesh Shishu Academy since September 2019.[5]
Enam was born on September 14, 1952, inRangpur to Kalimullah Bhuiyan and Mohua.[1] She completed her SSC from SV Girls' School and HSC fromComilla Women's College.[1] She then earned her bachelor's and master's in economics from theUniversity of Chittagong andUniversity of Dhaka respectively.[1]
Enam began performing in 1972 by joining the theater troupeNagorik Natya Sampradaya.[6] She first appeared in a dual role in the playAnubhabe Anubhutee withPijush Bandyopadhyay in 1987. Her notable roles include Kona inSharoma, Ambia inNuruldiner Sarajibon, Ms. Esha inBohubrihi and Boro Bou inAyomoy.[6]
Enam is the co-founder and general secretary of the theatre troupeNagorik Nattyangan.[4][7] She directed several stage plays includingAmi Birangana Bolchi,Sharoma,Pragoitihashik,Sheishob Dinguli,Bideha,Muktir Upaye andKritodasher Hashi.[8][9][10][11] She also directed television drama serialsAmader Ananda Bari, based on Enamul Huq's novelGreehobashi Galpo andShesh Rakkha.[12][13]
In 2012, Nagorik Nattyangan andBangladesh Shilpakala Academy arranged a six-day theatre festival to celebrate the 60th birthday of Enam at the National Theatre Hall, Dhaka.[14]
Enam was married to actor, theatre activist and academicEnamul Huq. Together they had two daughters – Hridi Huq and Proitee Huq.[15]
