Luciano da Rocha Neves (born 18 May 1993), simply known asLuciano, is a Brazilian professionalfootballer who plays as aforward forCampeonato Brasileiro Série A clubSão Paulo.
Luciano was born inAnápolis, Goiás, and joinedAtlético Goianiense's youth setup from hometown clubAnápolis.[1] He made his debut for the former on 8 March 2012, coming on as a second-halfsubstitute forWilliam in a 1–0 away win againstGurupi, forthe year'sCopa do Brasil.[2]
Luciano made hisSérie A debut on 13 October 2012, coming from the bench and scoring the last in a 3–1 home win againstInternacional.[3] He contributed with five league appearances duringthe campaign, suffering team relegation.
In 2013 Luciano moved toAvaí in theSérie B. He again made his debut with a goal, netting his team's only in a 3–1 loss atChapecoense.
On 13 February 2014, Luciano signed a three-year contract withCorinthians in the top level.[4] He made his debut for the club nine days later, replacingRomarinho in a 3–2Campeonato Paulista home win againstRio Claro.
Luciano subsequently scored two braces forTimão, in a 3–0 home win againstComercial and in a 4–0 away routing ofLinense. On 22 August 2014 he scored ahat-trick in a 5–2 home success overGoiás.
On 19 August 2015, in a match againstSantos for the national cup, Luciano suffered a seriousknee injury.[5] He was sidelined for seven months, returning to action in February of the following year.[6]
On 24 August 2016, Luciano was loaned toLa Liga sideCD Leganés for one year, with a buyout clause.[7]
On 17 July 2017, Luciano joinedGreek Superleague clubPanathinaikos on loan until the end of the year.[8] On 20 September 2017, Luciano suffered a serious cruciate rupture injury duringGreek Cup's clash againstAEL atLeoforos Alexandras Stadium. He was expected to return to action in March 2018.
In the end of 2018 he went to Fluminense.
In 2019, he moved to Grêmio.
On 18 August 2020, Luciano signed until December 2022 withSão Paulo FC. He came to Tricolor afterÉverton signed withGrêmio, and going to Luciano's opposite side.[9]
Luciano was called for theBrazil U23 team representing the country at the2015 Pan American Games inToronto,Ontario, Canada.[10] He was the tournament's top goalscorer with five goals in only four matches, and won a Bronze medal.[11]
