Louisa Michelle "Luci" Christian^[4] (born March 18, 1973)^[5][3] is an American voice actress andADR script writer. She has provided many voices for English versions of Japaneseanime series and films.

Christian grew up in Texas, where her parents, Mike and Barbara, were high school teachers.^[3] From age 3 to 9, she participated in some local beauty pageants, and later got involved in theater programs in high school.^[6] In college, she originally pursued journalism, but changed to theatre when she was offered a scholarship.^[6] She got her bachelor's degree in Theatre fromAngelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, and herMaster of Fine Arts in Theatre at theLouisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.^[6]

Her involvement in anime starts inADV Films inHouston where she had some bit parts inThose Who Hunt Elves that involved about three hours of studio time. She did not hear back for some time until she got cast inNeo Ranga.^[1] A few weeks later, she auditioned and got her first starring role asKaname Chidori inFull Metal Panic!.^[1][6] InSuper Gals! Ran Kotobuki, she voices the title character who is a fun-loving teenagegal in a family of police officers.^[7] InPrétear, she voices main characterHimeno Awayuki, a teenage girl who ends up living with two stepsisters and becomes involved in a magical girl fantasy.^[8] She also voiced teacherYukari Tanizaki in the school life comedyAzumanga Daioh.^[9] In 2006, she was featured in a series of articles byIGN titled "Babes of ADV Voice-Over".^[10]

Christian joined the voice actors who would regularly travel from Houston to record withFunimation inDallas. She had supporting roles inFullmetal Alchemist as guest character Psiren and later as the recurring characterWrath.^[11] She voiced actressAsako Kurumi in Funimation's dub ofKodocha,^[12] and a lead role asRico in the girls-with-guns dramaGunslinger Girl.^[11][13] In 2006, she voiced lead characterAsuna Kagurazaka in the school animeNegima, which is about a boy magician who teaches at an all-girls middle school. Theron Martin of Anime News Network remarked that she interpreted her role much like Kaname Chidori onFull Metal Panic.^[14] She also landed the lead role ofTenma Tsukamoto in the comedySchool Rumble,^[15] voiced the supporting role of Hitomi Kashiwa inWelcome to the NHK, and voiced the youthful-lookingMitsukuni "Honey" Haninozuka inOuran High School Host Club.^[16] After Funimation acquired the dubbing rights for the long-runningOne Piece anime series, Christian was selected to play its lead female navigatorNami.^[17]

In 2007, theAmerican Anime Awards nominated her for Best Actress for her work inPrincess Tutu as the lead role of Ahiru, and Best Actress in a Comedy for her work inDesert Punk,Negima andNerima Daikon Brothers, but lost toMary Elizabeth McGlynn andDebi Derryberry, respectively.^[18]

In 2009, she voicedKirino Chiba, the captain of a kendo team inBamboo Blade andLenalee Lee in the fantasy seriesD.Gray-man. In 2010, she voiced asNagisa Furukawa in theClannad series, thetitle character inBirdy the Mighty Decode andMakina Hoshimura fromCorpse Princess. She voicedMedusa in theSoul Eater anime series, which was released on video in 2010 and later broadcast onAdult Swim'sToonami block in 2013. In 2011, she voicedMeryl Strife in the English dub of anime feature filmTrigun: Badlands Rumble. In 2012, she voicedNessa inFractale, served as the narrator forŌkami-san and her Seven Companions andKamisama Kiss, and voiced companion devilElsie inThe World God Only Knows.
